So I'm not really big on tattoos, certainly not for myself; I'm scared that I would do something that I would regret later in life. That being said, if I had to get a tattoo, I would stay safe and probably get my name, Zahra, in a pretty Arabic calligraphy font, and maybe get it on the inside of my left wrist. It would look something like this: http://www.deviantart.com/browse/all/designs/tattoos/?offset=48&view_mode=2&order=5&q=arabic

I agree that even though I may love it at in the moment, will I still enjoy looking at a blotch of ink 20 years later?

Apparently it's best if you don't overthink it at the time, or maybe draw it on in sharpie for two months so you know that you're not sick of looking at it.

It is smart that you would get something "safe" that, no matter what happens, stays a part of you forever such as your name, unlike the name of someone else who may not be a part of your life anymore later down the road for example.

Arabic calligraphy is a great idea! It's nice that you would get something really simple and it could also represent your culture because you have a connection to that language. This makes me want to change my post to wanting to get a tiny tattoo in Tamil (although I can't read it)

I've ALWAYS wanted a tattoo and currently have a list of around 15 on my phone. My top pick that I want to get sometime soon is a simple black heart-outline on the back of my neck. I've always struggled with thinking and speaking with love, but I've worked hard on both that and myself in general therefore I think tattooing a symbol of this journey on my body would really solidify it for me.

If I had to get a tattoo, I would probably get a small cross somewhere inconspicuous. I already wear this symbol of love and sacrifice around my neck on my necklace, and since I hardly ever remove it, I suppose it would be reasonable to get this tattoo.

Aside from stereotypes and judgment, I like the way tattoos look on the lower back. I also like the small tattoos on ankles or feet. I would probably get a symbol that represents a quote that feel largely connected to. I know a friend of mine that got the mile number tattooed on her ankle after she finished her first marathon. It was a major accomplishment to her and she wanted something to symbolize that. I also know four girls that were really close through high school, they called themselves the "quad". Before they went off to college, they all got a small square tattooed on their hip so they would always be connected. I think these are great things for tattoo representations. I however, do not like the idea of just getting a tattoo without meaning. If a tattoo doesn't have meaning to you, you're probably gong to get sick of it faster and will regret getting it. Whereas if there's meaning behind it, the tattoo represents something important to you and will always be a reminder of that.

I agree that if the tattoo doesn't have much importance to you then you might be more likely to regret the decision later. But I do know that a lot of people like to think of there bodies as a canvas and prefer to decorate it with various designs with no significant meaning. I guess they're just designing with an ink that's a bit harder to remove.

If I had to get a tattoo, I would also get a small cross probably either on my wrist or on my ankle somewhere. I wouldn't want it to be too noticeable. I've never really understood the importance of faith until recently as I've started to grow up and had to start making important decisions and face all of this new responsibility. I realize now how important it is to have faith in your life to be able to fall back on and ask for guidance when you're stuck in a situation. However, I would most likely never get a tattoo because the fact that it is permanent kind of scares me especially if I decide I don't want it anymore later in life.

I wouldn't mind getting a tattoo, but I haven't really thought about it a lot or am too excited to get one because I don't think I have any important story I want permanently etched onto me. However, if i were to get a tattoo, it would be the Japanese symbol for strength () or a tiny lotus. maybe on my ankle or something. I'm really proud of my perseverance, physical and mental strength and the tattoo would sort of be a celebration of that strength and encouragement never to lose it. The lotus is very influential in Hinduism (it's also really pretty) and has always been respected and viewed with wonder by other cultures and religions as well. It represents dedication, wisdom, rebirth, and enlightenment among other things. To ancient Egyptians, a culture I've always been incredibly interested in, it represents harmony and rebirth as well. The tattoo would be a reminder of a these values and traits that I strive for and that I appreciate.

I don't ever plan on getting a tattoo; I'd probably regret it at a later time. If a part of my body had to be tattooed, I'd chose my forearm, but this is only because the forearm is one of the least discomforting parts of the body to be tattooed. I would pick the taijitu (the yin-yang symbol) to be tattooed on my arm. The symbol doesn't hold much significance to me, but I like the concept it represents. The idea is that opposite forces are complementary, so the symbol preaches a sort of harmonious duality, which I think is in interesting concept. Most importantly, I think it's a cool symbol.

Last year if you asked me, I would say I hate tattoos and I would never want one, but now they're starting to grow on me. I've been thinking about it recently and I've decided if I ever got a tattoo it would be a 100 with a full circle around it. I think one of my greatest struggles in life has been staying true to who I am. I have always tried to change who I am for other people, so the number 100 to me represents being 100% myself 100% of the time. It also represents putting in 100% into every single thing I do. I've always taken an all or nothing approach that if you don't put in everything into what you do, it's not worth it. The circle around it represents a cycle. I've always been a firm believer in the idea of karma- do good things and good things come back to you, so the circle represents a cycle in that way. I think it's really simple but it holds a lot of meaning to me personally. I would probably get it on my wrist.

I am not planning of ever getting a tattoo, as I am made uncomfortable by the thought of something being truly and utterly permanent. However, if I were ever to get a tattoo, I think I would get an ampersand on my hip or wrist or somewhere else that would be very personal to me. I would get this to symbolize how there is always something coming next, there's always an "and" following every action, situation, and emotion. I feel like this would act to keep me humble when things are going well, and give me strength and faith to persevere when times are tough. Although I am almost certain I will never get a tattoo, but if I were to, I would want it to hold deep meaning and be in a place that isn't incredibly obvious.

I'm not opposed to getting a tattoo, but my interests are fleeting enough so that I would be hesitant to get one. In addition to this, the care and keeping of one is quite a bit of work, especially after you first get it, and I don't know if I have the discipline to do that. If I had to get one, I would probably choose something for aesthetic purposes, or use a quote that I really like, "live to fight another day." It's simple, and it's a mantra that you always need.

I have debated getting a tattoo for a really long time. I just don't want it to be a decision that I regret later on in life. If I do get one though I want to three small hearts in the back on my neck that decrease in size to represent my mom, my sister, and me. The three of us have been through a lot together and I want a tattoo that reminds me how lucky I am to have them by my side.

I guess you could say I am indifferent to tattoos. I know I want one, I don't know what exactly though. I have always been a go big or go home type of person. There have been two things I have debated on getting. The first is on my inner arm, left side next to my heart, a White Lucky Cat (http://www.vinylmationpark.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/White-Lucky-Cat-Statue-Vinylmation-Urban-Redux-Cat-Topper-e1363276690679.jpg). I always remind myself of how lucky I am with my health problems, and my doctors say the same. I know the extent of my list of problems and I know I have to watch myself, but I know that I am luckier than most. Most teenagers with my problems would have already had a kidney transplant. I am lucky, in my mind I hit the jackpot.

I was actually thinking about this a couple weeks ago, and when I was really bored, I started trying to draw different designs of a tattoo that I might like. I don't think I would actually ever go through with it; I feel like later in life I would regret it or not like how it looks anymore. But what I was thinking of was a line from a particular song that goes "may the sunrise bring hope where it once was forgotten", and I could represent this by tattooing a simple mountain with a sun over it in someplace inconspicuous. I took the line as meaning that you can never be 'stuck' in a situation because there is always a new day that brings new opportunities. I like it because it is a message that is always applicable in life. But the song itself does not mean much to me at all anymore, which is why I don't trust that I would still want this tattoo in the future.

In all honesty, I would probably never get a tattoo. But if I did, it'd probably be a tiny Om sign. I'm not that religious, but I've always loved the idea of having some sort of symbol of god with me at all times. I'd get the tattoo somewhere relatively hidden for sure.

Growing up, I decided early on that I definitely wanted at least one tattoo. I think this was because especially in traditional Indian culture, tattoos aren't usually considered socially acceptable. Thus, me getting one would always remind me that I am always in control of my choices/life regardless of social norms. That being said, I hope to get a tattoo on the back of my neck, or back of my right shoulder saying "no fear" or something else motivational. I also love the tattoos around people's fingers that mimic rings. I never leave the house without wearing a ring, so I feel like that's something I would love in the future.

I personally have never wanted a tattoo. I feel like anything I would get probably not have meaning to mean in the next 60 years and I wouldn't want to have one when I'm older. If I was going to get one though, I would probably get a quote that's a good reminder for me. One that comes to mind is a quote from a church hymn, "I walk with Love along the way", which is a quote from a church hymn. In my religion, Christian Science, God has seven synonyms, qualities that he is, and love is one of them. This line to me means not only will I do everything I do with love and always be loving, but also that I walk with God along the way, and that he's always there. My faith is really important to me and I hope to never lose it, so this would be a good reminder and also a comforting quote.

I am not ever going to get a tattoo. Under really no circumstance would I ever want to have something written on my skin forever. But, if I was forced to get one, it would probably be a cross. Since my religion is an integral part of my life, I could most easily understand getting a tattoo that has to do with my faith. I would probably choose to get this tattooed on my back.
