Yesterday, I was reading an article in The New Yorker about the words of the year (according to dictionaries). Feel free to read the article if you would like, but to give the highlights, Oxford went with youthquake, Cambridge's was populism, Webster's was feminism, and Dictionary.com went with complicit. The article describes how each source arrived at their word, or you can probably guess on most of them. I want to know what you think was the word of the year for 2017, and, of course, you need to explain why it is your word of the year. You can think about it globally, politically, and/or personally. Is there a word or term that seemed to dominate your own life this past year? Why did it have special meaning this year? Feel free to take one of the words that the dictionaries chose, and, as always, feel free to be creative! The author of the article went with the word fake, which I found more interesting than most of the other words chosen. Covfefe, anyone?!?!
